Tips for Travelling with your Less Lethal Launcher

If you are going to travel with your Byrna Less Lethal Launcher, please watch the video below for some great tips!

If you are going to do some travelling, either for the holidays or just a vacation, make sure you’re also prepared to defend yourself before you leave home.

If you are making a road trip, make sure the launcher is accessible from your position inside the vehicle, not in the trunk or in a bag in the back away from your seating position. If a threat presents itself, it will rarely give you time to exit the vehicle to open the trunk or locate and open your bag.

While you are in your vehicle, keep your launcher concealed. While Byrna and other brands of launchers are legal in all 50 states, overtly displaying a launcher may cause undue attention and spoil your vacation early.

If you are flying to your vacation or holiday, your Byrna launcher can travel with your in a checked bag, along with any type of Byrna projectiles, and they DO NOT need to be declared like firearms do. While the FAA technically allows CO2 cartridges on commercial flights, the TSA has some policies in place that may prohibit them. So if you’re carrying an SD, either mail a few 8gr CO2 catridges to yourself at your destination, or find a local source for them ahead of time. If you’re carrying a Byrna LE, you can buy a few 12g CO2 cartridges at sporting goods and big box retailers at your destination.

When we are on vacation, we usually wear different clothes than we do back home, so think about how you’re going to carry your launcher while on vacation. If you’re going to be spending a week at the beach or pool, consider bringing a sling bag or waist pack to keep your launcher with you.

As always, the best defense is avoiding the problem altogether, but just in case that isn’t an option, with these tips, you’ll be prepared to defend yourself while away on vacation.
